Summary: In a dramatic turnover in previous years, South Carolina has a number of tax incentives to encourage the use of alternative fuels. The incentives include a rebate of sales tax to buy one of many new and used vehicles that can run on ethanol-blend fuel. The state has also approved this year a credit of taxes to buy hybrid vehicles, credits for installing solar power systems, and incentives to stimulate more production and distribution of ethanol-blend fuels and biodiesel. Last year, the only tax incentive fiscal South Carolina offered to consumers for the use of alternative fuels was a credit of $ 1,000 taxes to install a solar water heater. The state has provided enough funding for only 20 people to receive the credit worthiness of taxes, and nobody is applied.
